Tam Cy Albert, born in France in 1973, lived in Norway and the UK, currently based in Berlin, Germany. Writer and collage artist. Published short-stories in English, French and Norwegian magazines.
His first novel, The Home Straight (working title), will be published in Norway by Bokvennen forlag in spring 2014.
Wordwhore was the winner of a performative texts' competition, which was organised in 2008 by the Norwegian Forum for Contemporary Drama in collaboration with the literary magazine Utflukt and the Podium Scene theatre. It was subsequently published in Utflukt and performed at the Podium Scene in three different variations: by the choreographer / dancer Inger Reidun Olsen; by the actor Hakon Mathias Vassvik; and by the video artist Hjordis Kuras.
For its Greek production, Wordwhore was revised and considerably extended by its writer, Tam Cy Albert, after a challenging proposal by Urbn Theatr.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Urbn Theatr. It was a real collaboration. In order for a play to be successful, you need three ingredients: a good text to feed the actors, good actors to convey the words to the audience and a good director to create the ideal space for the actors to express themselves. I believe this was achieved with this project. The play was originally much shorter and it was very interesting for me to create an extended version. This was made easy by the directions that I got from Ilias Panagiotakopoulos who had a very clear and challenging vision of what he wanted. He is a director who is not afraid of taking risks and that makes the whole experience much more exciting for the entire team that works with him. Since Wordwhore is a monologue, a lot of its success rested on the performance of the actress. Lina Foundoglou was brilliantly directed and her performance was simply outstanding: she was the character as I had always imagined her to be.” |
